Terms of Use for the Demokratiappen

Thank you for contributing to the development of a stronger democracy.

1. About Demokratiappen

Demokratiappen is a digital platform that allows users to read, discuss and vote on political matters, share ideas, and contribute to the development of society through digital tools.

The service is provided by Okasi 1 AS, a non-profit company. Our primary purpose is not profit, but to develop and operate democratic technology that benefits society.

The app aims to strengthen democratic participation, and all content moderation is carried out without political bias and in accordance with our bylaws.

2. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account and using Demokratiappen, you agree to these Terms of Use.

3. Account creation and use

You are responsible for ensuring that all information you provide is accurate and up to date.

You may not impersonate others or use false information.

You are responsible for protecting your login credentials from misuse.

You must be at least 18 years old to register.

4. Privacy

All processing of personal data is carried out in accordance with applicable privacy laws (GDPR).

You must consent to our Privacy Policy in order to use the service.

5. Use of the service

By using Demokratiappen, you agree not to publish or share content that is:

• Illegal, threatening, harassing, discriminatory, or otherwise inappropriate
• Personal attacks, spam, or advertising
• Content that violates the intellectual property rights of others

Violations may lead to removal of posts, comments, or suspension from the service. Moderation is politically neutral.

Repeated violations may result in restricted use of the “Share an Idea” feature and commenting in the idea bank. Even if restricted, you will still have access to react to posts and vote on issues, including viewing results.

6. Payment of the technical platform fee

Certain features require a technical platform fee, which renews automatically until you cancel it. You can stop the subscription in the App Store or Google Play Store.

You will be notified in advance if any price changes occur. As a non-profit company, we do not operate for profit.

You acknowledge that the right of withdrawal is waived if you request immediate access to the paid service, cf. the Norwegian Right of Withdrawal Act § 22 (n)(3).

All purchases follow Norwegian consumer rules, except that the right of withdrawal does not apply once you choose to access paid features, as your payment incurs costs for the company.

The subscription includes unlimited voting (“stemmesedler”) each month.

If you are suspended from the idea bank or the “Share an Idea” feature due to misuse as described in section 5, your subscription will continue until you cancel it, as you still retain access to reactions, voting, and viewing results.

7. Liability and limitations

Okasi 1 AS strives to provide safe and stable operation, but is not responsible for technical errors, interruptions, or data loss caused by factors outside our control.

We are not responsible for content posted by users, but we will remove content that violates these Terms or Norwegian law.

We are committed to protecting freedom of expression and do not conduct prior censorship.

8. Identity verification and security

For functions such as voting, signing, or publishing content, we require secure login using BankID to ensure “one person – one vote.”

You are responsible for securing your account information and notifying us if you suspect misuse.

9. Changes to the Terms

We reserve the right to update these Terms. Changes will be notified via email or within the app.

If significant changes are made, you may choose to end your subscription and delete your account. This can be done from your profile page.
